파트타임스위트의 '시립비디오극장(2012)'은 전시 제목이면서 입구와 출구, 극장 객석 디자인과 비디오 상영 프로그래밍을 포함하는 작업의 제목이기도 하다. 상영작인 '드롭 바이 덴: 비디오'(41분 15초, 2010)는 전시 기간 동안 한 시간 간격으로 상영된다. 한 차례 상영이 끝난 후에도 프로젝터는 꺼지지 않으며 19분 동안 극장 내부를 밝히면서 퇴장하는 관객을 배웅하고 입장하는 관객을 마중한다. 극장 입구에 설치된 커튼과 출구에 진열된 오브제들은 스크린 밖에 있는 인트로intro와 아우트로outro 기능을 한다.
Part-time Suite's Seoul Metropolitan Video Theatre (2012) refers to both the exhibition as a whole and the individual work, which involves designing the entrance, exit, and seats of a theatre and programming of the video presented therein. Drop by Then: Video (41 min. 15 sec., 2010) is screened at one-hour intervals during the exhibition. The projector remains turned on even after the video is over; it lights up the theater for approximately 19 minutes, seeing the exiting audience off and welcoming the new guests. The curtain at the entrance and the objects at the exit serves the role as the off-screen intro and outro of the show.

이 전시는 경제관념으로 환원된 오늘날의 행복에 대한 단상에서 시작한다. 개개인의 일상에 침투한 자본의 논리가 우리의 삶을 어떻게 뒤흔들고 있는지에 대한 접근인 셈이다. 동시대의 몇몇 예술가들은 개인의 행복이 경제주의 차원으로 환원되는 현상에 초점을 두면서, 행복의 조건들을 성립시키고 있는 현실에 의문을 품는다.
한편으로 예술가들은 행복이란 무엇인가라고 묻기보다, 그토록 간절한 행복은 어떤 장치들에 의해 작동되는 가에 더 관심이 많다. 개개인의 삶을 지배하는 행복이라는 테제는 단순히 개인적인 욕망의 차원을 넘어 사회와의 관계망 속에서 발생한 하나의 지배체제이며, 우리는 그러한 체제 안에서 스스로를 관리하고 통제해 나가는 우리의 모습을 발견한다.
삶이 궁극적으로 행복의 이름으로 둘러져있기만 하다면 우리는 그것을 위해 무한 매진할 것이며, 또 그렇게 하는 것은 하등 이상할 것이 없는 것처럼 보인다. 그러나 행복한 삶 경영을 위한 시나리오가 누구에게나 동일하고 유일한 삶의 슬로건일 수밖에 없는 체제일수록 개인의 삶은 개인의 자유를 통해 무한경쟁의 삶이 되어 가는 것을 막을 수가 없다.
노동, 취미, 교육, 결혼, 소비와 같이 개개인의 일상과 밀접하게 관련된 영역들, 심지어 먹고 자고 휴식하는 원초적 행위조차 ‘행복한 삶 경영’이라는 이름으로 우리자신도 인지하지 못한 채 관리의 영역이 되어버렸다. 나아가 가족, 도시, 국가를 경영하기 위해 개별 삶의 영역은 도덕, 관습, 정책이라는 이름으로 더욱 정교한 방식에 의해 ‘행복한 삶’에 대한 지배체제를 강화해 나가고 있다. 이곳에서 우리는 안녕이 없는 생활들을 연속하는 동시에 지속적으로 삶을 모험해나가야 한다. 강력한 체제내의 삶은 체제를 거스르는 것조차 체제 안으로 흡수하는 역학관계를 발휘한다. 이미 우리는 그 안에 있고, 단지 그 안에서 다채로운 모험을 해나갈 뿐이다.
참여 작가들은 영상, 출판, 퍼포먼스, 방송, 투어, 다큐멘터리, 리서치 등 다양한 매체로, 협업, 연대, 게릴라, 참여, 초대 등 대안의 방식을 통해 오늘날 이와 같은 개개인의 삶의 형식과 조건에 대해 살피고, 제안하며, 공유한다. 때로는 우스꽝스럽고, 무의미하며, 결국 벗어날 수 없다는 것을 알지만, 그것은 성공이나 실패와 같은 단어와는 관련이 없다. 우리에게 삶은 곧 모험 자체이며, 이것이 어쩌면 우리를 둘러싼 온갖 체제에 응답하는 예술가들의 의무이기도 하기 때문이다.

'다목적 근거지'는 문래 예술공장 MAP프로젝트를 위해 제안한 것으로 파트타임스위트가 각 분야에서 활동하는 젊은 작가 혹은 그룹을 초대하여 그 안에서 어떤 일들이 가능할지를 모색하고자 한 협업 프로젝트이다. 파트타임스위트는 총 10명의 협업자들이 함께 모일 수 있는 공간을 물색하다가 문래 예술공장 지하 주차장 한쪽에 자리 잡은 다목적실을 프로젝트 진행을 위한 공간으로 삼게 되었고, 그곳을 '다목적 근거지'로 명명하면서 전체 프로젝트의 타이틀이 되었다. 모든 멤버들은 다목적 근거지에서 지난 10월부터 비/정기적으로 모임을 가졌고, 각자의 작업을 위해서도 자유롭게 공간을 활용하였다.
'다목적 근거지'는 애초에 협업을 통해 어떤 결과물을 만들어내는 것이 목표가 아니었으며 오히려 협업에 동의한 멤버들이 스스로 공동의 내용을 만들기를(만들어지기를) 기대하면서 가능한 협업의 형태를 발견해보고자 한 것이었다.
그동안 모든 협업자들이 '공동의 주제'없이 만들어지는 협업의 지난함과 각자의 작업 방식에 대한 더딘 이해를 경험하면서 나름의 방식대로 '다목적 근거지'에 대한 정의를 구축해왔고 따라서 전시와 공연으로 이루어진 이번 공식 일정은 ‘다목적 근거지’의 온전한 결과물이기 보다 미완성된 협업의 쇼케이스로 보는 것이 맞다. 각 멤버들은 스스로의 현실적인 작업 리듬이 존재하며 그에 따라 ‘다목적 근거지’에 대한 해석과 방향이 다르게 반영되었다. ‘다목적 근거지’는 이번 쇼케이스를 마친 이후에 서로에 대한 충실한 관객으로써 또 한 차례의 모임을 가질 예정이다.

Part-time Suite proposed the collaboration project Multi Purpose Basecamp for Mullae Art Space's MAP Project. We brought young artists working in various fields solo or as a group together to see what would become possible within the chemistry. When we needed a place for ten of us to gather, we decided to occupy a multipurpose room in the corner of the underground parking lot in Mullae Art Space, and called it "Multi Purpose Basecamp," which eventually became the name of the entire project. From last October, all ten members have been meeting at the basecamp on a regular basis. Sometimes there were some additional casual encounters, with each participating party using the room freely for its separate projects.
Multi Purpose Basecamp wasn't aimed at completing a planned work through a coordinated effort, to begin with. We tried to discover a possible form of collaboration and, with the members having agreed to work together, hoped a kind of shared content would emerge or be created spontaneously.
All of us have went through the difficulty of collaboration without a common goal and the slowness of understanding the way the other parties have been working. The process has so far let each of us develop his or her own perspective on what Multi Purpose Basecamp is. In other words, the official schedule of exhibition and performance, that we present now, is more of a showcase of an unfinished collaboration rather than a complete result of the project. Each party has its own rhythm of doing its work, which resulted in different views and approaches on and reflected in Multi Purpose Basecamp. After the show, all of us will meet again to discuss the project as faithful spectators of each other's work.

“Sentences on the banks and other activities” is a live art exhibition, curated by Abdellah Karroum, and initiated at Darat al Funun in Amman as a hub for its operations. This project integrates production across cultural disciplines and social practices, associating Darat al Funun with social and private spaces, and other cultural spaces around the city, as well as the Khalid Shoman private collection. The project is launched with an invitation for people to join a collective space of thinking and expressing ideas on realities and imagination. The curatorial enunciation suggests the simultaneous appearance, in times and spaces, of art production, post-production, and encounters, experimenting with the appearance of art expression during the formulating process. The urgent character of this idea of simultaneous sharing while creating interrogates today’s speed, and the missing distance between real facts and history, documentary or fiction. The exhibition takes shape at Darat al Funun, in connection with few places in the city. A one-day conference on “Art Practices and Vocabulary” associates curators, artists and scholars to the project. A radio program is produced in parallel.

<Drop by Then- Raw cast>
이것은 Drop by Then의 첫번째 작업으로 문산, 연천, 철원, 화천, 인제 등지를 여행하면서 그 사이 만난 사람들이 해 준 이야기들(혹은 그냥 던진 말들)을 기록, 멤버들이 무작위로 낭송한 것이다. 이야기를 들려주신 분들은 태풍전망대의 군인, 연천 군남삼거리에서 만난 아저씨, 파로호 민박집 주인 할머니 등이다. 낭송한 텍스트는 녹취한 것과 멤버들이 기억에 의존해 정리한 내용 모두를 포함한다.

<Drop by Then>은 서울을 출발하여 남한 북단을 구부정하게 횡단하는 여정을
기록하고 현장에서 단발적인 작업을 진행하는(것을 예상하는) 프로젝트입니다.
서울(2010년 9월 10일 출발)-문산-연천-화천-양구-인제-간성
그리고 다시 서울(2010년 9월19일 도착)로 돌아가는 일정입니다.

Part-time Suite leave Seoul for 2010 Project 'Drop by Then'.
This Project is based on a journey from Seoul via the northen area of South Korea (Munsan-Yeoncheon-Hwacheon-Yanggu-Injae-Ganseung) and PTS will do impromptu works during the journey. It is going to take 10days from today(Sep.10).
We have arrived in Musan now. See you in 10days in Seoul.

파트타임스위트는 작년 한해 동안 진행한 일련의 프로젝트를 나름대로 정리하고 콜렉티브의 향방을 점검하는 의미에서 '파트타임스위트 프로젝트 리포트 2009'를 출간한다. 책은 파트타임스위트의 발언을 도울 수 있는 문구와 프로젝트 공간을 재방문하면서 채집한 이미지로 구성되었다. 또한 프로젝트 과정 중 최태현과 함께 우연히 결성하게 된 파트타임스위트사운드의 첫 EP 'TOLOVERUIN'이 포함되었다. '파트타임스위트 프로젝트 리포트 2009'는 테이크아웃드로잉을 비롯한 일부 소규모 북샵에서 판매되며, 내용에 인용된 책들은 선별하여 테이크아웃드로잉 키오스크를 통해 비치될 예정이다.

류한길은 2005년부터 자주출판 레이블인 ‘Manual’을 설립하여 해외작가들과의 협업과 국내의 실험적 작가들의 작품을 소개하는 일을 진행하고 있고, 2005년부터 2009년 초반까지 전자즉흥음악 연주회인 ‘RELAY’의 기획자로도 활동하였다. 현재 일본의 작곡가 오토모 요시히데의 아시안 네트워크 프로젝트인 ‘F.E.N(Far East Network)’의 멤버로 활동 중이며, 2009년 스페인의 실험음악 레이블인 ‘Taumaturgia’를 통해 첫번째 즉흥음악 앨범인 'Becoming Typewriter'를 발표하였다. 오는 7월 20일 LIG아트홀의 기획공연 '사운드 디자이너'를 앞두고 있다.

WE GO OUT FOR A NIGHT WALK WITH A LANTERN AROUND THE CITY ABOUT 8PM. THERE WILL BE A GIG, A SHORT FILM SCREENING AND BOILED RICE WINE. *SHOULD BRING A LANTERN FOR THE NIGHT WALK.
*BRING YOUR OWN BOTTLE TO TASTE. (OFFERING RICE WINE ONLY)
*DRESS WARMLY FOR THE OUTDOOR EVENT.

8시 언저리에 다 함께 렌턴을 들고 밤 도시를 산보하고, 다시 공터로 돌아와 데운 막걸리를 마시며 공연과 단편영화를 즐깁시다.
*도시산책을 위해 각자 렌턴을 가져오시기 바랍니다.
*막걸리가 맞지 않는 분들은 마실 거리를 따로 챙겨오시면 좋습니다.
*옷을 따듯하게 입는 것 잊지 마세요.

We have gotten some works for 'off-off-stage' stolen.
Therefore the exhibition has to be closed on Sat, 12 to Sun, 13. We apologize for such an inconvenience of especially who visited the lot on 12th. The show will reopen on monday, 14, 7:30pm as usual.
12일 토요일, off-off-stage 전시장소에서 도난사고가 있었습니다. 따라서 12일과(토) 13일(일)에 전시를 휴장하게 되었습니다. 불편을 드려 죄송합니다. 전시는 14일 월요일에 다시 재개됩니다.
