City Within The City, 아트선재 센터
[City Within The City]전에서 파트타임스위트는 동시대 미술 전시와 교육 프로그램을 기획하고 진행하는 ‘사무소’의 일부 공간을 작업을 위해 임시 사용한다. 파트타임스위트는 오랫동안 창고로 사용돼 온 사무소의 차고에 또 다른 사무소를 차리는데, 보통 일반적인 서류업무를 담당하는 사무소의 의미에 수시로 발생하는 버그를 해결하기 위한 즉각적이고 일시적이며 국소적인 해결방안을 말하는 컴퓨터 프로그램용 패치를 붙여 <사무소 패치>라고 부른다. <사무소 패치>의 주된 업무는 사무소에 아카이빙 된 방대한 미술가들의 자료를 사무용지와 복사기 등을 통해 파트타임스위트의 방식으로 다시 아카이빙 하는 것이다. 갱신되지 못하고 어느 순간 멈춰버린 다양한 작업의 이미지와 텍스트들을 그들이 머물렀던 시간과 공간의 일면으로 바라보면서 그것을 현재 서울의 이미지와 텍스트로 재조립한다. 또 <사무소 패치>가 있는 차고 공간은 열려 인근 거리와 수시로 연결되고, 계획되거나 혹은 그렇지 않은 프로젝트들이 전시 기간 동안 간헐적으로 일어난다.
<사무소 패치>는 사무소 일층 주차장(현재 창고)에 차려지며 그 앞 도로에 통행에 방해를 주지 않는 방식으로 사무소를 연장한다. 이것은 길을 점유하는 것이 아니라 평범한 공공장소인 길에 슬며시 돗자리를 까는 것과 유사한 방식으로 간단하게 진행될 것이다. 그래서 길을 지나는 사람, 차량, 그리고 작업이 서로 모르는 사이에 무언가를 만들지도 모르겠다. 새로 아카이빙된 자료들은 주로<사무소 패치>에서 여러가지 방법으로 공개되며, 동시에 아직 구축되지 않은 사무소 웹사이트 한켠에서도 공개된다.

City Within The City, Artsonje Center, Seoul
SAMUSO Patch derives its name from the curatorial office organizing the exhibition City Withen The City at Artsonje and from the word ‘patch’ adopted in computer programming language to refer to temporary solutions devised for constantly appearing ‘bugs’, or problems. Installing themselves in a space that SAMUSO currently uses as a storage/garage space, Part-time Suite will parasitically use the office’s resources such as paper and copy machines to appropriate and make public their archive of different artists’ practices.
With only the limitation of not obstructing the flow of pedestrians, SAMUSO Patch will nonetheless be extended onto the functioning as a temporary welcome mat that invites passersby, including those in cars, to interact with the rearranged materials– older images and texts of various artists’ works to be re-configured with images of present day Seoul. All material produced will be archived and further made public on the SAMUSO website that has not yet been properly launched.
